Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s air ambulance set for launch after test flight success

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) is preparing to launch the country’s first air ambulance service, which will radically alter healthcare delivery. An important step towards this initiative’s goal of providing emergency medical transportation throughout the region has been the MI-17 helicopter’s successful test flight.

Health Advisor Ihtisham Ali lauded the transformation of the helicopter into an air ambulance during the test flight, highlighting the life-saving capabilities it possesses. K-P Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur is overseeing the adaptation of the aircraft to suit international standards, which will equip it with superior medical facilities.

During previous crises, the MI-17 helicopter has demonstrated its worth by transporting patients and delivering medication. It is now undergoing conversion into an air ambulance. As the aircraft is owned by the provincial government, the service will be provided at no cost to the public.

Impressive features of the MI-17 include an 8 m/s climb rate, a maximum speed of 250 km/h, and a range of 465 km. Its 6,000-meter operating height and ability to manage rough terrain make it a perfect fit for the varied topography of K-P.

This service, which is about to launch as Pakistan’s first cutting-edge air ambulance, is an indication of the government’s determination to increase access to healthcare, particularly in times of crisis. Countless citizens of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will find optimism in this project, which promises to increase life-saving efforts.
