Punjab to introduce AI in classrooms

Public schools in Punjab are about to undergo a radical transformation as the provincial government plans to implement artificial intelligence (AI) systems. The new school year will begin in April, and as part of this massive program, fifty thousand public school teachers will participate in Google Education training. To further prepare them for a tech-driven future, 100,000 pupils will also receive instruction in coding and Google AI.

Smart laboratories will be set up in schools all around Punjab to help with the integration of AI. Google Cloud platforms and innovative AI-based educational programs will be available at these labs. Certified educators will be able to demonstrate mastery of current pedagogical practices after finishing these courses.

As part of the plan, digital electronic boards will replace the requirement for chalk and markers on regular whiteboards and blackboards. There will be an emphasis on electronic libraries, and plans are afoot to partner with Google to host online workshops on artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and creative pedagogy.

The province intends to provide pupils with free, up-to-date textbooks for the next school year, in addition to using AI. The first eight grades’ exams will take place during Ramadan (March 10–20), the last day of matriculation is February 23, and the new term starts on April 1.

Punjab is committed to bringing education up to date and preparing educators and students for the future of technology by incorporating AI into classrooms. The government’s goal is to build a better, more inclusive learning environment, and this innovative technique shows that goal.
