Punjab Governor announces ban on male professors at women’s universities

Across Punjab, women-only universities have seen male professors and teachers removed by Governor Sardar Saleem Haider. Ensuring a safer learning environment and protecting female students from harassment is the goal of this effort. Those who engage in harassment at educational institutions would face severe punishments, Governor Haider said while speaking to the media.

There will be reforms to the process of preparing and marking examination papers to further protect female students from wrongdoing or extortion. The administrations of the universities are being told to implement these reforms right away. Furthermore, vice chancellors and professors will be required to fill out performance evaluation forms that correlate their compensation with their output.

At the same time, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif of Punjab launched a number of programs to aid students. Nearly 2,000 students in the Gujranwala division benefited from the Honhaar Scholarship Programme, which was launched at Government College Women University in Sialkot. The scholarships were valued at Rs89.8 million. The initiative also includes the distribution of computers to students who achieve a score of 65% or higher.

Additionally, the chief minister has promised to increase the number of Honhaar scholarships from 25,000 to 50,000 by the end of the year so that even more students can take advantage of the financial aid that the province offers. She also highlighted her dedication to student welfare by announcing that a student’s mother will receive government-covered cancer treatment.
