To help economically disadvantaged communities, the Punjab government has started distributing minority cards in Lahore. Deputy Commissioner Syed Musa Rizvi of Lahore distributed the cards at a ceremony held in his office. The cards would guarantee the beneficiaries a monthly payment of Rs10,500 to help with their financial difficulties.
The deputy commissioner emphasized the initiative’s goal of helping minorities through tough times and increasing their quality of life.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif, chief minister of Punjab, has greatly increased the program’s reach, boosting the number of families receiving the cards from 50,000 to 75,000. She did not deny that the Rs10,500 is a token of support from the government of Punjab and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, but she also acknowledged its modesty. Budgets for improving minority neighborhoods and religious places were increased by 60%, and funds for minority festivals have been increased from Rs10,000 to Rs15,000.
A Christian cemetery will be finished within a few months, according to the chief minister, highlighting the government’s dedication to inclusivity and social advancement. All communities within the province can live with dignity and support thanks to these steps that aim to uplift minority groups.
