Cease-Fire in Gaza to begin Sunday announces Qatar’s Prime Minister

Qatari Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman, announced Wednesday evening that mediators have successfully brokered a cease-fire agreement in the Gaza Strip, set to take effect this Sunday.

Speaking at a press conference in Doha, bin Abdulrahman revealed that the initial phase of the agreement will span 42 days and involve the release of 33 Israeli detainees in exchange for an undisclosed number of Palestinian prisoners.

He emphasized that Qatar, Egypt, and the United States “will work to ensure the agreement’s implementation,” with established mechanisms to monitor compliance and address any potential breaches.

The Qatari minister expressed hope that “no military actions will take place during the lead-up to the agreement’s implementation.”
