Imran Khan Appeals for Bail in Multiple Cases Linked to May 9 Violence

Former Prime Minister Imran Khan has submitted a petition to the Lahore High Court (LHC) seeking bail in eight cases, including the high-profile Jinnah House attack case, which are connected to the incidents of May 9.

In his petition, Khan claims that at the time of the disturbances, he was under custody by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in Islamabad, and thus could not have been involved in the events. He argues that his involvement in these cases is part of an ongoing political vendetta, aiming to unjustly target him. Khan also mentioned that he has been dealing with legal proceedings related to these cases for the past two years.

Khan’s plea urges the court to grant him bail and order his release in all the eight cases. The Lahore Anti-Terrorism Court had previously denied his bail requests in relation to these incidents. While Khan faces charges in a total of 12 cases linked to the May 9 events, he has already been granted bail in four of these cases.

The petition, which is now pending before the Lahore High Court, is being closely watched as it could have significant implications on Khan’s legal and political future. Khan’s defense team is hopeful that the court will consider the merits of the case and grant him the relief he seeks.
