Adnan Siddiqui wins best actor for ‘Jamun Ka Darakht’ at US in South Asian Film festival

After facing criticism for his controversial remarks comparing women to flies, Adnan Siddiqui has found a reason to celebrate. The actor recently shared his joy on X platform as he received recognition for his performance in the short film “Jamun Ka Darakht” at the South Asian Film Festival in Florida.

“Delighted to receive the Best Actor award at the South Asian Film International Festival Florida (SAIFF) for my work in ‘Jamun Ka Darakht’,” he tweeted. “Congratulations to the entire team for also winning Best Short Film. Grateful to everyone involved!”

“Jamun Ka Darakht,” a highly praised project in Pakistani cinema, intricately tells the tale of women navigating the complexities of the fashion world. With themes of consent and self-discovery, the film promises an intense and captivating viewing experience through its compelling narrative.

Recognizing the exceptional talent behind the film, “Jamun Ka Darakht” was previously selected to be showcased at the esteemed Cannes World Film Festival, which focuses on films and documentaries addressing human rights, social justice, health, and disability.

Penned by renowned screenwriter Bee Gul and directed by Rafay Rashdi, “Jamun Ka Darakht” stars Adnan Siddiqui in the role of Karim, alongside actor and model Fouzia Aman, and Maha Tahirani.
