OpenAI introduces a powerful ‘Deep Research’ tool for ChatGPT

OpenAI has unveiled a groundbreaking tool called “deep research” for ChatGPT, capable of analyzing and synthesizing data to create detailed reports in just minutes. Announced in Tokyo by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, the tool is set to revolutionize tasks typically handled by research analysts.

Currently available for ChatGPT Pro users with limited monthly access, “deep research” can sift through hundreds of online sources to generate concise and comprehensive insights. Altman noted that while the tool requires significant computing power, it represents a major milestone in AI’s capabilities. “It can perform economically valuable tasks that would otherwise take hours,” he remarked.

Amid rising competition from China’s DeepSeek, Altman emphasized the importance of pushing innovation further but also welcomed the challenge. Meanwhile, OpenAI is joining forces with SoftBank in a $3 billion annual venture to enhance AI-driven solutions, particularly for Japanese businesses. The collaboration also includes the launch of “Cristal,” a tool designed to simplify data handling for enterprises.

Despite concerns about intellectual property imitation from competitors, OpenAI aims to stay ahead in the AI race by delivering innovative products that meet global needs. This latest announcement highlights the rapid advancements shaping the future of artificial intelligence.
