Kashmir Solidarity Day Observed in Pakistan on 5th February 2025

Islamabad, February 5, 2025: Pakistan today marked Kashmir Solidarity Day with fervent support and unity, as the nation renewed its commitment to the cause of the Kashmiri people and their struggle for self-determination. Observed annually on February 5th, the day serves as a powerful reminder of Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir, who have faced prolonged oppression and human rights violations under Indian occupation.

Kashmir Solidarity Day, which has been commemorated since 1990, aims to express Pakistan’s support for the Kashmiris’ right to freedom, justice, and self-determination, as guaranteed under various United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions. It also draws attention to the illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir by India and the ongoing human rights violations perpetrated by Indian forces in the region.

The observance of this day began with official ceremonies in Islamabad, where President Dr. Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif led the nation in paying tribute to the sacrifices made by the Kashmiri people. In his address, Prime Minister Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to the Kashmir cause and condemned the persistent violence and oppression faced by Kashmiris.

“The people of Kashmir have suffered immensely under Indian rule, and today, we stand together to reaffirm our solidarity with them,” said Prime Minister Sharif. “Pakistan will continue to advocate for the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination, as outlined by the United Nations. The international community must act to hold India accountable for its illegal actions and human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir.”

Throughout the country, rallies, protests, and commemorative events were held to mark the day. Thousands of people gathered in major cities like Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, and Quetta, holding placards and banners calling for justice and the resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with international law. The streets echoed with chants of “Kashmir Banay Ga Pakistan” (Kashmir will become Pakistan), as citizens reaffirmed their unshakable support for the Kashmir cause.

In Islamabad, a special ceremony was held at the Kashmir Liberation Cell, where prominent political leaders, diplomats, and civil society members addressed the crowd, stressing the importance of upholding the rights of Kashmiris. The speakers called on the United Nations to ensure that India complies with the UNSC resolutions and conducts a free and fair plebiscite in the disputed region.

The day also witnessed a show of strength from Pakistan’s military leadership, with Army Chief General Asim Munir expressing full support for the Kashmiri cause. “Pakistan stands firmly by the people of Jammu and Kashmir, and we are ready to defend every inch of their land,” General Munir said in a statement. “The freedom struggle of Kashmir is just, and the international community must recognize the urgency of resolving this issue to ensure peace and stability in the region.”

Kashmir Solidarity Day not only raises awareness about the ongoing struggle of the Kashmiri people but also serves as a call to action for the international community to intervene and bring an end to the human rights violations taking place in the region. The day reinforces Pakistan’s position that lasting peace in South Asia can only be achieved by addressing the Kashmir dispute in a manner that respects the wishes of the Kashmiri people and adheres to international law.

As the day concluded, Pakistan reaffirmed its unwavering stance on the Kashmir issue, emphasizing that it will continue to stand alongside the Kashmiri people in their peaceful quest for freedom and justice. The observance of Kashmir Solidarity Day remains a vital part of Pakistan’s diplomatic and political efforts to ensure that the world never forgets the plight of the Kashmiri people.
