Pakistan declares February 5 as Kashmir Solidarity Day

In keeping with a tradition that dates back to 1990, Pakistan has declared February 5 as a public holiday in observance of Kashmir Solidarity Day. This yearly celebration is a symbol of Pakistan’s steadfast backing for the independence of the people living in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

Everywhere you look, banks, government buildings, schools, and companies will be shuttered. Rallies, lectures, and human chains will be held in major cities like Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi on this particular day. The purpose of these gatherings is to show support for the people of Kashmir and to bring attention to Pakistan’s position on the enduring Kashmir conflict.

Activists and political figures are known to attend these rallies, the main goal of which is to promote a peaceful end to the war in accordance with UN resolutions. Nevertheless, people should be ready for potential disturbances in large cities as a result of the scheduled protests and processions.

On February 5, Pakistan reaffirmed its support for Kashmir and reiterated its desire for peace and justice in the region, sending a strong message.
