Jordanian King rejects Palestinian displacement in Trump meeting

In a meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House on Tuesday, King Abdullah II stated that he reaffirmed Jordan’s unwavering stance against the eviction of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.

The leader of Jordan claimed that he and Trump had “a constructive meeting” during which they talked about Jordan’s long-standing alliance with the United States.

“I reaffirmed Jordan’s unwavering opposition to the eviction of Palestinians from Gaza and the West Bank. This is the Arab position as a whole. He said on X that everyone’s top objective should be to rebuild Gaza without forcing the Palestinians to leave and to address the grave humanitarian situation.

According to him, the best approach to guarantee regional stability is to establish a just peace based on a two-state solution.

“The US must take the lead on this. Trump is a man who promotes peace. He played a key role in negotiating the ceasefire in Gaza. In order to make sure it holds, we look to the US and other parties,” he stated.

“I also stressed the importance of working towards de-escalation in the West Bank and preventing a deterioration of the situation there that could have far-reaching implications for the entire region,” Abdullah stated. “We will continue to play an active role with our partners to reach a just and comprehensive peace for everyone in the region.”

Trump, who has been highly criticized for his plan to seize control of Gaza, stated during the meeting that he would “take” the besieged Gaza Strip under US control.

He declared, “We will operate it in a very proper manner.”
