Punjab CM takes action on kite string injury incident

Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, took notice of an incident in Kahna where a motorcyclist was injured by a kite string on Sunday. She has requested a report from the Inspector General of Police (IGP) regarding the incident.

The chief minister instructed relevant authorities to ensure that the injured motorcyclist and affected children receive the best medical treatment available.

On another note, in her message for World Rose Day—dedicated to cancer patients—she extended her wishes for their speedy recovery, acknowledging the bravery of those fighting cancer. She also mentioned that Nawaz Sharif is establishing the first government-run cancer hospital in Lahore, emphasizing their commitment to providing free and quality treatment. “We plan to set up a special center for cancer treatment in every district of Punjab,” she added.

Regarding the upcoming MDCAT exams, the chief minister encouraged candidates, stating that hard work pays off and expressed confidence in their success. She directed authorities to ensure that examination centers across Punjab are well-prepared and secure, so candidates do not face any issues during the exams.

While chairing a special meeting focused on transforming agriculture in Punjab, she announced that farmer groups of 5 to 10 would receive subsidies for seeds, fertilizers, drip irrigation, and solar energy solutions.

To enhance local food supply, she mentioned a project to cultivate onions and tomatoes over 2,000 acres, which is expected to ensure availability for six months and prevent artificial inflation due to off-season cultivation.

Authorities informed her that plans for off-season tomato cultivation are underway in Kahrupka, Rahim Yar Khan, Vehari, and Rajanpur, while onion cultivation will take place in Khushab, Chakwal, Pindi, and Jhelum.

Additionally, she approved the establishment of agricultural machinery rental services throughout Punjab, allowing farmers to rent tractors, harvesters, and other modern equipment on a no-profit, no-loss basis. A joint working group will oversee the selection of more than 67 locations for this initiative, and she urged that wheat be sown on government land.
