The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) will convene today, chaired by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, to deliberate on appointing 10 additional judges to the Lahore High Court (LHC). The meeting is set for 2 PM in the Supreme Court Committee Room.
According to sources, the commission has received 49 nominations for the vacancies, including four session judges—Qaiser Nazir Butt, Muhammad Akmal Khan, Jazila Aslam, and Abhar Gul Khan—alongside 45 senior lawyers.
Several prominent lawyers under consideration include Adnan Shuja Butt, Ayan Tariq Bhutta, Ambreen Anwar Raja, Asad Mehmood Abbasi, Asma Hameed, and Bushra Qamar, among others.
The JCP will review and finalize the shortlisted candidates as part of efforts to strengthen the judiciary.
