In Narowal, police have arrested an Ahmadi man and filed charges against three other members of his community for allegedly burning pages of the Holy Quran.
According to a local leader of Jamaat Ahle Sunnat Pakistan from Dharg Miana village, he was at a mosque on Monday night when he heard a disturbance. Upon investigation, he saw four men burning papers on a garbage heap.
The leader claimed that, with the help of mobile phone lights, it was revealed that the papers being burned were pages of the Holy Quran. The four men reportedly fled the scene, and the police were promptly notified via emergency number 15.
A heavy police presence arrived at the scene to gather evidence and take statements from witnesses. Acting on the request of a member of the religious group, the police registered a case against the four accused from the Ahmadiyya community.
Narowal District Police Officer Naveed Malik confirmed that an FIR has been filed against the identified individuals, and one of them has been apprehended.
