Three militants were killed and one was injured in a gunfight with security forces in the Razmak area of North Waziristan district on Friday, according to the military’s media wing.
In a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), it was revealed that security forces had launched an Intelligence-Based Operation (IBO) after receiving reports of militant activity in the area.
The statement detailed that an intense exchange of fire occurred during the operation, resulting in the deaths of three militants and injuries to one. The security forces recovered weapons and ammunition from the deceased militants, who had been actively involved in attacks against security forces and the targeted killing of innocent civilians.
Following the clash, the area was being cleared to ensure no other militants remained, as security forces continue their efforts to eradicate militancy from the country.
Police van attacked in Peshawar In a separate incident, two policemen and a civilian were injured when a bomb detonated near a police mobile van on Warsak Road in Peshawar on Friday, according to the police.
A statement from the capital city police reported that the injured individuals, including the mobile van’s in-charge, its driver, and a passerby, were taken to a hospital, where their conditions were reported to be stable. The area was immediately cordoned off to apprehend those responsible for the blast.
SSP Operations Kashif Zulfiqar and other senior police officials visited the scene. Zulfiqar stated that CCTV footage from the surrounding areas was being collected, and evidence from the blast site was being gathered. He added that a joint search operation by police and other law enforcement agencies would soon be conducted in the Warsak division to track down the culprits.
Bomb explosion in Lower South Waziristan In another incident, four people, including two children, were injured when a remote-controlled bomb exploded near the vehicle of a tribal elder in the Daza Ghundai area of Wana tehsil, Lower South Waziristan district on Friday.
Local sources informed Dawn that the target was Malik Ashiq Noor Wazir Ghanikhel, but the elder and his companions narrowly escaped the blast, which damaged their vehicle.
All the injured were transported to the District Headquarters Hospital in Wana. The injured were identified as Hazrat Hussain, Ehsanullah, Mohammad Roshan, and Mohammad Saqib. The police reported that another vehicle was also damaged in the explosion. The bomb had been planted on a motorcycle and detonated as the elder’s vehicle passed by.
