Harris: Putin would be “Sitting in Kyiv” if Trump were president

On Monday, U.S. Vice President and Democratic candidate Kamala Harris issued a stark warning regarding the potential consequences of her Republican opponent Donald Trump reclaiming the presidency.

“It’s essential to recognize, as I’ve publicly stated, that Donald Trump is not a serious individual, and the implications of him becoming president again are extremely severe,” Harris expressed to her supporters in Wisconsin.

She highlighted the global attention on the upcoming presidential election set for November 5, noting that U.S. allies are increasingly anxious about the political climate.

Harris remarked that Trump is “easily swayed by flattery,” recalling his controversial actions during the COVID pandemic. “Do you recall what transpired back then? He discreetly sent COVID tests to Russian President Vladimir Putin for personal use,” she remarked.

In discussing Trump’s frequent remarks about the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Harris commented, “He claims, ‘Oh, I’d solve that in a day’ regarding Ukraine. Well, I doubt that Americans believe the president should address such a critical issue through surrender, and that’s precisely what would happen. Vladimir Putin would be sitting in Kyiv if Donald Trump were in charge,” she asserted, indicating that Trump appears eager to please a leader he admires.

Last week, Trump referred to having a “very good” relationship with Putin. When questioned about whether he had spoken with the Russian leader since his departure from office in 2021, he suggested that if he had, “it’s a smart thing.”

In a book, journalist Bob Woodward cited an unnamed aide who claimed that Trump had communicated with Putin as many as seven times since leaving the White House.

A Biden administration official stated they were unaware of any reported calls between Trump and Putin. However, U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan noted that “obviously that would raise red flags if it were true.”
