The Sindh government announced on Friday that all public and private schools across the province will be closed on Monday, August 26, in observance of the Chehlum of Imam Hussain (RA).
A notification regarding the Chehlum holiday stated that the decision to close educational institutions was made by a steering committee of the provincial education department.
The Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) will be observed across Sindh on Monday with religious devotion and heightened security measures. This event marks the end of a 40-day mourning period following the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his 72 companions in the Battle of Karbala on the 10th of Muharram in 680AD.
Mourning processions featuring Alam, Tazia, and Zuljinah will be held in various cities across the province.
