Armed with intelligence and gifted with captivating looks, Hamza Ali Abbasi is a familiar face on the screen (remember The Legend of Maula Jutt?). Making a comeback to television after five years, Hamza has delivered another remarkable performance as Shahram in Jaan-e-Jahan, released in December 2023.
Discussing his role in an interview with Next Level Backstage, Hamza expressed deep admiration for his character Shahram.
“He exudes such positivity, and we truly need such characters in society,” remarked Hamza. “For me, being a man in love means more than just receiving love. It means supporting your loved one in their aspirations and dreams, and it’s crucial to portray that as a role model.”
Hamza emphasized that Jaan-e-Jahan is not merely a love story between a man and a woman.
“There are numerous intertwining storylines crafted with finesse and skill,” he elaborated, commending the writers for their intricate plot.
One particular scene etched in Hamza’s memory is the heart-wrenching moment when Shahram learns about the death of his father, portrayed by Asif Raza Mir. With raw grief and devastation portrayed on his face, Hamza brings the scene to life with poignant authenticity, succumbing to inconsolable sobs.
“I had to tap into my emotions like never before,” recalled Hamza. “It remains my favorite scene.”
Despite pouring his heart and soul into his performance, Hamza admitted to being the most relaxed among the cast. However, this laid-back demeanor poses no issue for him or his team.
“Everyone maintains a relaxed and easygoing atmosphere,” shared the actor. “There are no egos within our team, both cast and crew. We share a lot of laughs.”
With a cohesive and congenial team alongside talented writers, Hamza couldn’t recall any unpleasant moments during production. Forming a close bond with his onscreen brothers, both on and off-camera, with whom he can engage in lengthy conversations, Hamza eagerly anticipates the audience’s reception of his latest project.
“It’s a fantastic package,” he stated earnestly. “I sincerely hope you enjoy Jaan-e-Jahan.”
With such glowing praise, there’s little doubt that audiences will indeed.
