The Punjab government has deployed Rangers in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Attock, and Sargodha following the enforcement of Section 144, which bans political gatherings, protests, and rallies.
The ban will remain in effect from October 4 to October 6, and Rangers have been called in to help maintain order, with three companies stationed in Lahore specifically for security on October 5.
The decision to impose these restrictions and deploy Rangers came on the recommendation of the district administration.
In response to the PTI’s call for protests, the Islamabad police have set up seven special teams to arrest demonstrators. Each team will consist of 15 to 17 personnel and will target local activists and protesters heading to the capital.
These teams will operate under the supervision of Superintendents of Police (SPs), with each team led by a sub-inspector.
