Iranian missile attack damages 100 homes in northern Tel Aviv

Israeli authorities reported that around 100 homes in the northern city of Hod Hasharon were damaged during Tuesday’s missile attack from Iran.

City officials, quoted by Israeli public broadcaster KAN on Wednesday, said some buildings suffered extensive damage and will require significant repairs, while dozens of others sustained only minor harm.

Later on Tuesday, Israeli Army Radio confirmed that Iranian rockets also landed in open areas in Netanya, which is part of the greater Tel Aviv area, including Hod Hasharon.

Iran launched approximately 180 ballistic missiles at Israel amid escalating tensions between the two regional rivals.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed the attack was in retaliation for the assassinations of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah, and IRGC commander Abbas Nilforoshan. Haniyeh was killed in Tehran in July, while Nasrallah and Nilforoshan were killed in an airstrike in Beirut last week.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the missile attack a “big mistake” and warned that Iran would “pay for it.”

The attack has raised international concerns about the potential for Israel’s ongoing war against Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon to escalate into a wider regional conflict.
