Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari stated that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is unconcerned about whether Imran Khan’s wife, Bushra Bibi, has eggs, chicken, or yakhni pulao while in jail.
In response to Barrister Saif’s allegations against Maryam Nawaz, Bokhari remarked, “This is a ridiculous tactic to remain relevant in the news. Lying and sensationalism have long been Bushra Bibi’s pastimes.”
“Bushra Bibi can have eggs, chicken, or chicken broth; Maryam Nawaz is indifferent. In fact, Maryam Nawaz is not even aware of which cell Bushra Bibi occupies at Adiala Jail. Like her husband Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi is receiving B-class facilities in prison. The hardships that Maryam Nawaz faced during Imran Khan’s tenure were far more severe than what Bushra Bibi is going through,” Azma Bokhari continued.
She further emphasized that Maryam Nawaz had endured difficult conditions in Kot Lakhpat Jail and during her detention by the NAB, hardships that were imposed upon her at Bushra Bibi’s request.
Bokhari highlighted that despite facing the tough conditions of jail, Maryam Nawaz never exploited her gender to gain sympathy. Bushra Bibi, she asserted, is in jail for misappropriating gifts from the Toshakhana and for her involvement in the embezzlement of 190 million pounds.
Moreover, Azma Bokhari pointed out that the privileges afforded to both Bushra Bibi and Imran Khan in jail are unimaginable for the average citizen, noting that both are serving their sentences in a VIP manner.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Advisor Barrister Saif had accused Maryam Nawaz of orchestrating harassment against Bushra Bibi in prison. He previously claimed that under Maryam’s orders, Bushra Bibi is subjected to late-night searches, including invasive body inspections in front of cameras, causing her significant mental distress.
Barrister Saif also alleged that these actions were attempts to psychologically break Imran Khan, though he asserted that Bushra Bibi continues to stand resolutely by his side.
