Punjab CM launches Pakistan’s first eco-friendly double-decker tourist buses

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz inaugurated five new eco-friendly hybrid double-decker buses on Thursday, marking an important milestone in promoting sustainable tourism in Pakistan.

At the launch event, the CM toured the buses and took a ride while receiving information about the new tourism initiative. Three of the buses will operate on new routes in Lahore, while one each will be introduced in Bahawalpur and Rawalpindi, with plans to expand the service to Multan and Faisalabad soon.

Maryam Nawaz highlighted the significance of eco-friendly and innovative transportation solutions in enhancing metropolitan tourism across Punjab. She noted that Lahore’s double-decker bus service was initially launched in 2015 during former CM Shehbaz Sharif’s administration, becoming popular among diplomats, corporate leaders, and the general public.

The ceremony was attended by several notable figures, including Senator Pervez Rasheed, senior provincial minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Information Minister Azma Bokhari, Special Assistant Rashid Nasrullah, MPA Sania Ashiq, and the Punjab chief secretary.
