On Wednesday, representatives from Pakistan and Bangladesh acknowledged the importance of fostering collaboration across bilateral, regional, and multilateral platforms to promote mutual progress and development. This recognition came during a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Professor Muhammad Yunus, Chief Advisor of Bangladesh’s Interim Government, held at the United Nations General Assembly’s 79th session.
Prime Minister Sharif highlighted the deep-rooted fraternal ties that exist between the two nations, which are grounded in a shared heritage of faith, culture, and history. He emphasized the need for both countries to work together effectively to enhance their diplomatic relations and ensure sustainable development for their citizens.
In his remarks, the Prime Minister noted that the goodwill and warmth felt by the people of Pakistan and Bangladesh could be harnessed to build stronger connections. He suggested that both countries should pursue various avenues to strengthen their relationship, including parliamentary exchanges, cultural interactions, and joint initiatives in sports, academia, and the arts. Such engagements can promote a deeper understanding and solidarity between the peoples of the two nations.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister extended an invitation to Professor Yunus, encouraging him to make an official visit to Pakistan at a time that suits him. This invitation not only reflects Pakistan’s commitment to fostering dialogue and cooperation with Bangladesh but also underscores the importance of regional collaboration in addressing common challenges and achieving shared goals for progress and development in the South Asian region.
