Khawaja Asif connects global stability to the resolution of conflicts like Gaza

Minister of Defense Khawaja Asif stated on Monday that achieving lasting peace and stability in the world is impossible without addressing conflicts similar to the situation in Gaza.

Speaking at the Summit of the Future Plenary Session at the UN General Assembly, Khawaja Asif emphasized the need for collective action to tackle security challenges. He warned that security issues pose a threat not only to future generations but also to global peace as a whole. He advocated for reforms in the global system to create better opportunities for over 100 developing countries.

Asif highlighted the role of the international community in steering the world towards a better future. He also called for international financial institutions to offer debt relief to poorer nations and to increase financial cooperation with developing countries. He expressed Pakistan’s interest in leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) for development.

He wrapped up by emphasizing that the Summit of the Future provides a rare, once-in-a-generation opportunity for transformation, facilitating a commitment to innovative solutions. “This summit presents a chance to create international mechanisms that more accurately represent the realities of the 21st century, allowing us to effectively address both current and future challenges and opportunities,” he remarked.
