PM Shehbaz lands in New York for UN general assembly session

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has arrived in New York to participate in the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, where he is slated to deliver a key address on Friday. His speech will highlight Pakistan’s position on important global and regional matters, such as the Jammu and Kashmir conflict and the situation in Palestine.

Sharif will also reiterate Pakistan’s commitment to multilateralism and emphasize the UN’s role in fostering global peace and security. During his visit, he will engage in high-level meetings, including discussions on climate change and a UN Security Council debate on leadership for peace.

The prime minister is expected to hold bilateral talks with various world leaders and meet with the UN Secretary-General. Additionally, he will connect with the US-Pakistan Business Council and major financial stakeholders to promote Pakistan’s investment opportunities.

More than 130 heads of state are attending the session, with heightened security around the UN headquarters from September 24 to 28.
