Israel launches heaviest strikes on Southern Lebanon since October 8

The Israeli military conducted intense airstrikes in southern Lebanon on Monday, marking the heaviest bombardment since hostilities began on October 8.

Fighter jets targeted several areas in southwestern and southeastern Lebanon, resulting in at least one death and injuring around 20 others, according to Lebanese media reports.

One strike hit near the Lebanese Italian Hospital in Tyre, while additional attacks targeted a home in the town of Jbal El Botm, southeast of Tyre, and areas along the Litani River.

Other affected locations included Wa’ba, Jibchit, Sharqia, Al-Namiriyeh, Kfar Tebnit’s outskirts, Nabatiyeh El Faouqa, and Deir El Zahrani. Strikes also occurred near the Kfar Roummane-Midneh highway, as well as in the outskirts of Yohmor Al-Shaqif, Arnoun, Jabal Al-Tuffah, Jabal Al-Rihan, and Sejoud.

The Israeli army confirmed that it launched over 150 airstrikes across Lebanon on Monday. Military spokesperson Daniel Hagari stated that the military might target Lebanese villages up to 80 kilometers from the border, citing concerns over Hezbollah’s plans to attack Israeli citizens.

Tensions between Hezbollah and Israel have escalated following a deadly airstrike on Friday that killed at least 45 people, including women and children, in Beirut’s southern suburbs. Hezbollah reported that at least 16 of its members, including senior leaders, were killed in the recent Israeli strike.

This attack followed two waves of explosions from wireless communication devices across Lebanon that killed 37 people and injured over 3,000.
