The International Mathematical Union (IMU), supported by the friends of the IMU (FIMU) and distinguished Breakthrough Prize laureates, is delighted to announce the launch of the IMU Breakout Graduate Fellowship Program 2024. This initiative aims to foster mathematical talent in developing nations by offering up to four promising mathematicians each year the opportunity to pursue a Ph.D. in the mathematical sciences.
The fellowship offers comprehensive support, covering tuition fees, travel expenses, accommodation, and living allowances, providing recipients with up to USD 10,000 annually for a maximum of four years. This financial assistance allows scholars to dedicate themselves fully to their doctoral studies and research without financial constraints.
Geared towards students from developing countries, the program seeks individuals with outstanding academic achievements and a strong commitment to pursuing careers in mathematics research and education. Nominees must be endorsed by professional mathematicians and should have secured pre-admission into a recognized doctoral program in a developing country.
Application Process: The nomination period is open from February 1 to May 31, 2024. All nominations, along with required documentation such as statement of purpose, academic transcripts, and letters of recommendation, must be submitted online via the IMU website in English.
