Mohsin Naqvi, Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has assured the International Cricket Council (ICC) delegation that the upgrades to stadiums for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy will be completed on time. In a meeting in Islamabad, he emphasized that all renovation work would be finished before the tournament, ensuring top-notch security and facilities for both players and fans.
The ICC delegation, which included senior officials like Sarah Edgar and Wasim Khan, expressed satisfaction with the preparations in Karachi and Rawalpindi and reviewed the security arrangements during their visit. Naqvi highlighted Pakistan’s passion for cricket and promised a world-class experience for spectators during the Champions Trophy.
Earlier, at the ICC’s annual meeting in Colombo, the budget for the 2025 Champions Trophy was approved, with Naqvi representing Pakistan. The budget was meticulously prepared by ICC and PCB finance officers. There have been discussions about the Indian cricket team potentially playing at a neutral venue, but the PCB is committed to hosting the entire event in Pakistan.
The PCB has designated Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Lahore as the venues for the tournament, with plans for all of India’s matches to be held in Lahore. To enhance the stadiums, the PCB has allocated Rs12.80 billion. The Champions Trophy is set to take place from February 19 to March 9, 2025, marking a significant event for cricket in Pakistan.
