Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has called for a detailed plan to boost the export of pink salt, a valuable natural resource.
During a meeting in Lahore, Nawaz instructed the implementation of measures to prohibit the export of raw pink salt, recognizing its significant economic value.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the need to enhance safety protocols for mine workers, ensuring their protection.
The meeting addressed the potential of utilizing modern technology for more efficient exploration and extraction of natural resources and discussed the creation of a value-added industry for pink salt.
Attendees included Provincial Minister for Information and Culture Azma Zahid Bukhari, Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtarzaman, Principal Secretary Sajid Zafar Dal, and Secretary of Minerals Babar Aman Babar.
Earlier this year, Pakistan signed an agreement with the American firm Miracle Saltworks Collective Incorporation to enhance the value of Himalayan pink salt and increase its exports. Former Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar hailed the $200 million investment as a significant boost to Pakistan’s investment climate, reflecting strong confidence in the country’s economic policies and investment-friendly environment.
