Bilawal warns government of risks associated with ‘Political Witch-Hunt’

In a passionate speech to the National Assembly, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari criticized the ongoing political witch-hunting and character assassination. He cautioned that focusing solely on imprisoning political opponents might bring temporary satisfaction but will ultimately lead to more significant challenges.

Bilawal urged the opposition to focus on substantive issues such as unemployment, inflation, education, health, and terrorism, rather than engaging in personal attacks. He emphasized the need for the opposition to propose solutions if they criticize government policies. He also suggested forming a high-powered committee to improve the functionality of the House.

Addressing students in the galleries, Bilawal reflected on the diminished prestige of politics but stressed its importance in addressing national challenges and creating opportunities for youth. He expressed disappointment over the resignation of a key Balochistan politician and called for members to take responsibility for their roles.

In response to recent parliamentary disruptions, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq suspended the sergeant-at-arms and security staff who failed to prevent unauthorized personnel from entering the House. He also proposed forming a special committee to address parliamentary rules and improve operations.

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif supported the production orders for detained MNAs but criticized the use of offensive language in public meetings. He emphasized that such incidents harm constitutional and democratic processes.

Overall, Bilawal’s speech and subsequent discussions highlighted the need for cooperation and focus on key issues rather than personal grievances.
