In Karachi, a university student tragically lost his life while resisting a robbery attempt

In Karachi, another tragic incident of lawlessness claimed the life of a young man when he resisted a robbery near Saad Bin Muaz Mosque in Korangi’s Allah Wala Town on Monday evening.

The victim, identified as twenty-two-year-old Muhammad Laraib, was a resident of KDA Employees Housing Society and the eldest of four siblings. According to reports, Laraib was followed by robbers after leaving his house, leading to the fatal encounter. The police have initiated an investigation into the matter.

Laraib’s body was transferred to Jinnah Hospital, where his brother Shahzeb declined a postmortem examination. The family is anticipated to file a case following the burial of the deceased.

Speaking to the media, Laraib’s father, Muhammad Hussain, revealed that his son was en route to the gym when the tragic incident occurred. He speculated that Laraib’s resistance may have been driven by the data stored on his phone for a book he was writing on basic accounting. Additionally, Hussain mentioned that Laraib was engaged, with plans for his wedding scheduled for the following year.

This distressing event adds to the rising number of fatalities during robbery attempts in Karachi, which has reached 34 in the first three months of this year alone.

In January, another heartbreaking incident occurred when a newly married man was fatally shot in front of his wife by muggers at Seaview within the jurisdiction of Sahil police station. The victim, identified as twenty-five-year-old Muhammad Adnan, hailed from Kalat, Balochistan, and had been married for three months. He was shot twice by assailants during a robbery attempt while walking with his wife along the beach wall after dinner at a nearby restaurant. The robbers fled with the couple’s belongings, including mobile phones and cash.
