PTI to protest SC ruling on NAB amendments case

Shibli Faraz, a leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), reacted on Friday to the Supreme Court’s ruling on the NAB amendments case, calling it “NRO-II” and vowing to take the issue to the public. Faraz stressed the importance of the case for Pakistan’s national finances.

Ahead of the planned public rally on September 8, Faraz affirmed that PTI would continue its efforts to safeguard the Constitution and maintain law and order in the country.

Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court reinstated the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) amendments law, accepting the federal government’s review petition. The unanimous 5-0 ruling came from a five-member bench led by Justice Qazi Faez Isa, with an additional note from Justice Athar Minallah. The court noted that detailed reasons for the decision would be shared later.

The federal and provincial governments had previously filed intra-court appeals challenging the constitutionality of the NAB amendments, with the Supreme Court reserving its decision on June 6.
