In response to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s concerns about the alleged lack of security for its chief minister during a visit to Faisalabad, the Punjab government has clarified that Ali Amin Gandapur received full security and protocol. Despite his visit being private, aimed at attending an anti-terrorism court for bail in May 9 cases, the Punjab government ensured appropriate protection.
On August 28, the KP government had sent a letter to Punjab, requesting action against officials for allegedly failing to secure Mr. Gandapur during his trip. The letter, addressed to the principal secretary of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, demanded an investigation into the alleged negligence.
In response, the principal secretary assured that the Punjab government adhered to the protocols outlined in the Blue Book. He confirmed that comprehensive security measures were in place, including traffic management, during Mr. Gandapur’s visit to the Faisalabad Anti-Terrorism Court to address four cases related to May 9, 2023.
The principal secretary detailed that Faisalabad police had deployed a full security detail, including one SP, one DSP, one SI, six ASIs, five head constables, and 57 constables. Additionally, the route was cleared by the city traffic officer (CTO), and a bomb disposal exercise was conducted by the Special Branch.
The letter emphasized Punjab’s commitment to providing security and ensuring the safe movement of the KP chief minister in accordance with the law.
