Bushra Bibi, the wife of PTI founder Imran Khan, has raised alarm over a rat infestation in her cell at Adiala Jail.
The issue emerged on Monday during a hearing related to the £190 million corruption case when she brought it to the attention of Judge Nasir Javed Rana. Bushra Bibi reported that her cell had been overrun with rats, which had been falling from the ceiling during her prayers and causing significant disturbance for the past three months.
In response, Judge Rana promptly ordered the jailer to address the infestation, and the jailer assured the court that the sanitary staff would handle the problem. Bushra Bibi expressed her relief and returned to her seat.
This is not the first time Bushra Bibi has raised concerns about her detention conditions. In May, she had requested a transfer from her Banigala residence, which had been designated as a sub-jail, to Adiala Jail, where her husband is currently held. She had previously filed a petition with the Islamabad High Court (IHC) alleging violations of her fundamental rights at the Banigala residence, including claims of poisoning and psychological torture.
