Imran Khan Blames Institution for Security Issues, Criticizes Government and PCB Chairman
Former Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in Balochistan and Punjab, attributing the problem to the blame placed on a specific institution. Speaking to reporters after a corruption case hearing at Adiala Jail, Khan emphasized that the PTI will consider national reconciliation only after addressing its grievances and insisted on accountability for the alleged rigging in general elections.
Khan also criticized Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, accusing him of mismanagement and corruption. He claimed Naqvi’s incompetence, combined with alleged involvement in scandals, has negatively impacted cricket. Khan further criticized the current government’s failure to enact reforms and manage finances effectively, asserting that only an elected government with a genuine mandate can achieve meaningful changes.
In court proceedings, delays continued as the cross-examination of a key witness in Khan’s corruption case remained incomplete. The accountability court expressed frustration over the slow progress and the frequent transfer of jail staff. Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, also raised concerns about the frequent changes in jail staff and the postponement of a planned rally.
Separately, PTI filed a petition with the Islamabad High Court seeking the recovery of missing activists. The petition, which names several government officials and agencies, argues that the disappearances are unconstitutional and requests an investigation into potential government involvement.
