Four people have died following a blast in Razmak town, North Waziristan.

NORTH WAZIRISTAN: Four people were killed and more than 10 others were injured after a blast struck a bazaar in Razmak town, North Waziristan, as reported by the district administration to Geo News on Monday.

The explosion occurred in Razmak Bazaar, and the injured individuals have been transferred to a hospital for treatment.

This incident comes amid a surge in terror activities across Pakistan, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan, over the past few months.

President Asif Ali Zardari condemned the attack, offering condolences to the victims’ families and reaffirming his commitment to eradicating terrorism from the country. He also prayed for the souls of those who perished.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi also condemned the blast and extended his sympathies to the victims’ families, stating, “The entire nation is determined to end terrorism.”

Since the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan in 2021, Pakistan has seen an increase in terrorist activities, particularly in provinces bordering Afghanistan—KP and Balochistan.

According to a report by the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS), the second quarter of this year saw 380 fatalities and 220 injuries linked to violence, involving both civilians and security personnel. This includes 240 incidents related to terror attacks and counter-terrorism operations.

In response to the rising threat, the federal cabinet approved Operation Azm-e-Istehkam in June, a renewed national counter-terrorism campaign based on recommendations from the Central Apex Committee under the National Action Plan to combat terrorism.
