Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the Buna-Raast connectivity project in Islamabad today, aimed at improving remittance flows from the Arab world to Pakistan.
The initiative connects Pakistan’s digital payment system, Raast, with Buna, a platform established by the Arab Monetary Fund.
During the launch, the Prime Minister highlighted that this groundbreaking project will enhance Pakistan’s historic ties with the Arab world through modern digital means. He emphasized that the initiative is designed to help Pakistanis living in the Arab world send money back home more quickly and efficiently.
Shehbaz Sharif noted that this is Pakistan’s first cross-border real-time payment system, which will make remittances more affordable and accessible.
Addressing economic challenges, the Prime Minister mentioned that he will soon unveil a five-year homegrown economic program. He explained that discussions with stakeholders have been ongoing for several months and that the program will focus on economic upliftment and various sectors, including agriculture and IT.
