Iran’s permanent mission to the UN on Tuesday firmly rejected recent US allegations of interference in the upcoming US presidential election.
The mission described the allegations as “unsubstantiated and without merit, responding to claims made by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and other intelligence agencies on Monday. These claims suggested that Iran was involved in attempts to hack into the campaigns of former President Donald Trump and current President Joe Biden, along with Vice President Kamala Harris.
Iran’s mission also challenged the US government to provide evidence to support its accusations. “If the U.S. government genuinely believes in the validity of its claims, it should present the relevant evidence, which we will address accordingly,” the statement said.
Reiterating its stance, Iran emphasized that it has no intention or motive to interfere in the US presidential election. “As previously stated, the Islamic Republic of Iran has no interest in meddling in the U.S. presidential election,” the mission concluded.
