PM Shehbaz Sharif: Two-State solution is the sole resolution for Palestine-Israel conflict

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Palestinian people and their right to self-determination.

He condemned Israel’s actions against civilians in Gaza and expressed deep concern over the violence that has escalated since October 7, 2023.

During a meeting with outgoing Palestinian Ambassador Ahmed Jawad A.A. Rabei at the Prime Minister’s House on Tuesday, Sharif criticized Israel’s actions, noting the tragic death toll of over 40,000 Palestinians, including women and children, and more than 90,000 injuries.

The prime minister reiterated Pakistan’s firm commitment to achieving a just and lasting resolution to the Palestinian issue through a two-state solution. He emphasized that establishing an independent state of Palestine with pre-1967 borders and Al Quds as its capital is the only viable solution in line with United Nations resolutions.

“Creating an independent Palestinian state with Al Quds as its capital is the sustainable resolution,” Sharif said.

Ambassador Rabei expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Sharif for Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and for the hospitality extended to him during his five-year tenure. He commended Pakistan’s historical and consistent stance on Palestine and its contributions to international peace and stability.

Rabei also thanked the Government of Pakistan for its humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people and for offering scholarships to Palestinian medical students in Pakistan.

The prime minister wished Ambassador Rabei success in his future endeavors and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause on international platforms.
