Protesters break through police cordon to reach SC

Aalmi Majlis Tahaffuz-i-Nabuwat organized a protest demanding that the Supreme Court overturn its judgment in the Mubarak Sani case.

Earlier, rallies were held from various locations in the twin cities.

In the afternoon, protesters gathered at Express Chowk, setting up a stage on a vehicle with a sound system for speeches, according to the police.

A significant police presence arrived at the scene, with forces stationed behind a gate at the old parade ground.

The protesters delivered their speeches and then marched towards the Supreme Court building. They encountered resistance but managed to breach the gate and clear the obstacles. In response, the police employed baton charges, water cannons, and fired teargas shells to disperse the crowd. Despite these efforts, the protesters reached both the Parliament House and the Supreme Court building.

Carrying banners and chanting slogans, the protesters returned to Express Chowk before sunset, where they performed Maghreb prayers and then dispersed peacefully, as reported by the police.
