PM Shehbaz extends congratulations to Bangladesh’s interim leader Muhammad Yunus

On Friday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated Muhammad Yunus, the newly appointed interim leader of Bangladesh, and expressed his hopes for strengthening the ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh.

In a tweet, PM Shehbaz offered his heartfelt congratulations, stating, “Warmest congratulations to Professor Muhammad Yunus. I wish him great success in leading Bangladesh towards a peaceful and prosperous future. I look forward to working with him to enhance cooperation between our two countries in the near future.” Professor Yunus, a Nobel Peace Prize laureate recognized for his groundbreaking work in microfinance, is esteemed for his contributions to Bangladesh’s economic development.

The oath-taking ceremony took place yesterday at the presidential office in Dhaka, led by President Mohammed Shahabuddin. At 84, Yunus has been appointed as “chief adviser” to the transitional government, which is predominantly composed of technocrats.

Yunus’s appointment has garnered considerable attention, with many anticipating that his leadership will foster stability and progress in Bangladesh.
