Meghan Markle reveals past trauma and suicidal thoughts in an interview

In a CBS interview, Meghan Markle revealed that she has only “scratched the surface” of her experiences with bullying while also discussing her past suicidal thoughts. On Sunday, Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, introduced The Parents’ Network, a new initiative aimed at supporting parents who have lost children directly or indirectly due to social media.

During the interview with Jane Pauley on “CBS Sunday Morning,” Markle connected her personal experiences with online bullying to the families they aim to support.

“When you’ve experienced any level of pain or trauma, part of the healing process—certainly for me—includes being open about it,” Markle shared. “I haven’t really scratched the surface of my experience, but I wouldn’t want anyone else to feel that way. I wouldn’t want anyone else to be making such plans or to feel that they’re not believed.”

Markle added, “If sharing what I’ve overcome can help save someone or prompt someone to genuinely check in on others, rather than assuming everything is fine based on appearances, then it’s worth it. I’m willing to take that hit.”

In a 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Markle, 43, had previously disclosed that she experienced suicidal thoughts while pregnant with her son Archie due to the intense pressures of royal life and the negative treatment from the British media.
