Sialkot consumer court fines UAE airline for poor service

A consumer court in Sialkot has fined a UAE-based international airline Rs100,000 for poor service to a client.

Fatima Saba, a passenger from Sialkot, filed a petition with the district consumer court alleging that she had booked a ticket from Faisalabad to Istanbul (Turkey) for a flight scheduled on April 17, 2024. Upon arriving at the airport, she discovered that the flight had been cancelled without prior notice, rescheduling, or a refund for her ticket.

The petitioner provided all necessary documentary evidence to support her claim. After reviewing the case, the consumer court, presided over by officer Gulzar Ahmed Khalid, ruled in her favor and imposed a fine of Rs100,000 on the airline.

Additionally, the court ordered the airline to refund the ticket cost of Rs167,305 to the consumer, as well as pay Rs50,000 in lawyer fees and Rs15,000 in miscellaneous expenses.
