Ahsan Iqbal: PTI must abandon vandalism and apologize to the Nation

On Thursday, Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Professor Ahsan Iqbal stated that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) must renounce its politics of instability and issue a national apology for the vandalism of state institutions and military installations if it seeks reintegration into the national mainstream. In an interview with Voice of America (VOA), he emphasized that no democratic nation could condone a party that engages in destructive politics and undermines national interests for political gain.

Regarding the potential banning of PTI, Iqbal revealed that recent information suggested PTI’s social media might be linked to anti-state elements abroad. This information is currently under thorough investigation by relevant authorities to determine appropriate legal and constitutional actions.

Iqbal asserted that whether PTI is banned or not, its actions represent a direct attack on national interests. He also noted that some political parties are trying to exploit the situation while the country focuses on economic recovery. Describing the events of May 9 as a calculated plan by PTI, he stated that politics of destruction and instability only serve anti-state elements. In response to another query, Iqbal highlighted Pakistan’s intent to strengthen trade relations with friendly countries, emphasizing that the country’s economic future relies heavily on boosting exports.
