Additional rainfall is forecasted for Punjab.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has announced that all rivers and streams in Punjab are currently experiencing normal water flow amid the ongoing monsoon rains.

A spokesperson for the PDMA reported that the water levels in dams and barrages are also stable. Currently, Mangla Dam’s water level is at 58%, and Tarbela Dam’s is at 69%. Indian dams on the Sutlej, Beas, and Ravi rivers have water levels reaching up to 39%.

The monsoon rain pattern is expected to persist until July 31. The PDMA has forecasted additional rainfall across most districts of Punjab over the next 24 hours.

Preparations for potential flooding are in place in vulnerable districts, according to PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia. The PDMA control room and district emergency operation centers are monitoring the situation continuously.

Citizens are advised to exercise caution during the rainy season. Kathia urged the public to “avoid unnecessary travel in adverse weather conditions and stay away from electrical wires and poles.”

Yesterday, two individuals lost their lives due to the collapse of deteriorated buildings. For emergencies, the PDMA helpline 1129 is available for assistance.
