During a debate on law and order in the Balochistan Assembly on Friday, both treasury and opposition members voiced their concerns about the deteriorating situation and stressed the need for effective measures to restore peace.
Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti and members from both sides of the assembly made these remarks during a session presided over by Speaker Abdul Khaliq Achakzai. They highlighted that certain forces, in collaboration with foreign entities, were working to exacerbate the situation for their own agendas.
Opposition Leader Mir Younis Zehri initiated the debate, referencing the recent murder of JUI-F leader Aslam Umrani despite police presence, and the killing of another JUI-F leader, Maulana Sadiq, with no leads found.
Chief Minister Bugti declared that no group would be allowed to challenge state authority and vowed to take all necessary actions against those conspiring against the country. He claimed that RAW had launched an intelligence campaign against Pakistan, particularly targeting Balochistan, where alleged informers were being killed and extortion money was being collected from mine owners.
The Chief Minister promised to convene a special in-camera assembly session to address these issues. He also warned that with the second phase of CPEC set to begin, there were attempts to disrupt the project, including plans by the Baloch Liberation Army to attack Gwadar. He criticized individuals who were acting as spokespeople for terrorists and advised protesters to relocate their demonstrations to less sensitive areas.
Bugti expressed regret that some people were being used as proxies to provoke the police and government, creating discord between the armed forces, elected representatives, and the public through social media. He mentioned that during a recent sit-in on Sariab Road, protesters tried to seize control of the Red Zone, which led the government to enforce its authority.
