Prime Minister Shehbaz calls for enhanced relations with Tajikistan

On Friday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral ties with Tajikistan, particularly in trade and investment.

The prime minister made these comments during a courtesy visit from Tajikistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Sharifzoda Yusuf Toir, at the PM House. He welcomed the ambassador and wished him a successful tenure.

Reflecting on his recent trip to Dushanbe, where he was warmly received, Prime Minister Sharif praised the productive discussions with President Emomali Rahmon. He expressed satisfaction with the MoUs and agreements signed during his visit and emphasized that timely implementation and follow-up would further enhance bilateral relations.

The prime minister reiterated his invitation to President Rahmon for an official visit to Pakistan and looked forward to Tajikistan’s participation in the SCO Council of Heads of Government meeting in Islamabad this October.

Ambassador Toir updated the prime minister on various proposals to boost cooperation in education, agriculture, defense, and connectivity through land and air routes. The prime minister noted these proposals and directed relevant ministries to engage with the ambassador for further discussions. The meeting also covered regional connectivity projects, including CASA-1000.
