Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad at the Kremlin on Wednesday, according to the president’s press service.
Putin expressed his interest in Assad’s views on the regional situation, noting, “I am very interested in your perspective on the overall developments in the region. Unfortunately, we are witnessing a trend toward escalation, which is directly affecting Syria as well.”
Assad, speaking through a Russian translator, responded, “Given the current global events and the situation in the Eurasian region, our meeting is crucial for discussing the details of these developments, as well as exploring possible future scenarios and prospects.”
