Punjab launched first air ambulance service

On Sunday, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz fulfilled another of her commitments by launching the provincial government’s air ambulance service. This service facilitated the transfer of Haleema Bibi, a 40-year-old woman who had sustained severe injuries from a fall, from Mianwali to Rawalpindi for emergency treatment.

The transfer, conducted under the ‘golden hour’ initiative, was ordered by CM Maryam Nawaz after medical advice indicated that immediate relocation was crucial for Haleema Bibi’s survival. The Chief Minister’s intervention was praised by the woman’s family, who saw her as a blessing for saving Haleema Bibi’s life. CM Nawaz expressed her dedication to the cause, stating, “He who saves one life, saves all of humanity,” and urged the nation to pray for Haleema Bibi’s recovery.

In addition to her healthcare initiatives, CM Maryam Nawaz chaired a meeting on the Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) mapping plan. She emphasized the need for innovative technical training to boost economic growth and reduce unemployment. New courses in trades such as construction, textiles, tourism, and information technology were discussed, alongside partnerships with industries for internships and job placements. The CM also approved the establishment of 45 welding workshops in nine cities and the recruitment of 1,000 new employees to address staffing shortages in TEVTA.

In response to a tragic incident in Pakpattan where a boy was burned alive over a shop dispute, CM Nawaz expressed her condolences and directed an investigation into the incident, demanding accountability from those responsible.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced the groundbreaking of the Jinnah Medical Complex, which will offer state-of-the-art, free healthcare facilities. The complex aims to serve residents across Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. PM Sharif highlighted the complex’s focus on free treatment for various conditions, including heart, kidney, and cancer, and emphasized the inclusion of a modern emergency section with air ambulance service.

The Prime Minister praised the collaborative effort behind the project, including the support from HBL Chairman Sultan Ali Allana and Prince Rahim Agha Khan, and pledged to address any funding issues. He also directed that the project be completed within a year, despite the tight timeline, and ensured that land compensation issues would be handled promptly.
