Nine arrested for honey trapping and robbing playwright Khalilur Rehman

Lahore police have arrested nine individuals, including two women, in connection with honey trapping, abducting, and robbing acclaimed playwright Khalilur Rehman Qamar.

The case emerged after Qamar filed a complaint with Sundar police on July 20. According to the complaint, he received a late-night call on July 15 from Amna Urooj, who invited him to her Bahria Town residence to discuss a drama project. Upon arriving, Qamar was greeted by Urooj and later, seven armed men burst in, holding him at gunpoint.

The robbers demanded his belongings, including his car keys, Rs6,000 in cash, and a mobile phone valued at Rs110,000. They also obtained his ATM card and withdrew Rs267,000 from a nearby bank after forcing him to reveal his PIN. The suspects then drove Qamar to various locations, subjecting him to physical and emotional abuse before abandoning him at a desolate spot.

A case of robbery and abduction was filed, leading to a special police team’s formation to track down the culprits. The investigation confirmed that the playwright was honey trapped by Urooj and her accomplices. The police have since arrested the nine suspects and recovered all of Qamar’s belongings. A press conference is expected to provide further details.
